Ok guys,
We have all read my thread where my startup crashed and burned. Once it is cycled, how many fish can you have in a 29 gallon. 29 doesn't seem that small, I was thinking of 2 black and white clowns for sure, but what else would you suggest?

I plan on going with only 4 in my 30 gallon, 5 max. I plan on a Clown, a Lemonhead Sleeper Gobie, a Royal Gamma and maybe a Firefish or a Sixline for the last one. You should avoid Tangs and Angels for sure and I believe Butterflies need a larger tank also but I really didn't do research on the latter two.

I think you can get away with 4 small fish in a 29 as long as you dont overfeed and stay on top of maintenance, especially waterchanges. 3 fish in 12g nanos seems to be pretty common but make sure you add fish slowly so your system has time to adjust to the increased bioload.

In our 29 gallon we have a YT damsel, bicolor blenny, chalk basslet, and a hawaiin spotted puffer.

Its kinda hard to give an exact number, because it depends on
several factors , like: Amount of LR, Filter/Skimmer, size of fish, etc.
I have four very small fish (2 clowns, damsel, and a sixline) in my tank,
and I haven't had any problems.
Just make sure that you don't add them all at once.

I hate ot burst your bubble but I'd suggest you go with fresh water fish - 29 Gal is really too small for salt water.
you could trade up for a 75 Gallon and really enjoy the hobby.
MY 55 gallon tank is too small for most fishes I really want to enjoy.

Ok, ocellaris_keeper's comment is unjustified, but let's be civil here.

Hey, I have a 29-gallon and I like it just fine! :)
I have 4 small fish in it. A 3-inch coral beauty, a 1.5-inch clarkii clown, a 2-inch purple firefish, and a 2-inch spotted mandarin [who is fat and happy, thx]. If I had to add something else, it would be like a neon goby or something itty bitty like that. :)
