I agree on the trank idea there really isn't any point in this to me it is just meaningless slaughter how many people kill and make animals EXTINCT when i was year 3 i found out that 1 species of animal goes extinct about every 35 seconds to 1 minute and 300 square meters of rainforest were destroyed every 10 seconds. The animals had no power.WE have the power yet it doesn't mean we should use it or at the very least ABUSE it.That may not be your view on it but i have always been very protective when it comes to nature.JMO.
Have they taught you the word "propaganda" yet?

Rainbow....These animals were in a place where they were supposed to be kept safe. At some point in these animals lives they were taken from their natural home and transplanted here. As a rule most of these types of animals are the result of folks owning illegal pets, or retired circus animals. They can't be returned to the wild, they can't feed themselves or live amung their own kind anymore. Something went wrong in the animal preserve park. The caretaker opened all the cages and gates, allowing the animals to escape, and then he killed himself.
Now these potentially dangerous animals are running free. Children, pets and people in general are in danger. The animal control folks are trying their best to capture the animals alive and rehome them, but if they can't, they have to kill them for everyones safety. So it isn't meaningless slaughter, it's people trying to fix an already bad situation. I love tigers, the animal control people do as well....if I had to kill one it would break my heart and I would cry...but I would kill it in a heartbeat to save my dogs or my grandchildren....LOL..or myself.

UMMM, where to begin with this post??? The animals that were killed were killed for the welfare of people and other animals in the vicinity of this "preserve". Jack Hanna even backed the killing the animals that were loose. He recalled a time when a 2,000 lb water buffalo was tranquilized and 10 seconds later the water buffalo was thrashing about putting human lives in danger. Would you want to have the threat of these animals on the prowl in your neighborhood? It was getting dark and tranquilizing an animal does not work instantly. The animal could get hit with the tranquilizer dart, run into the woods where rescuers could not find it, pass out, and then regain consciousness. It is not the fault of the officials that the animals were "slaughtered". They had to do what was in the best interest of all involved, and I would not consider abusing power.

Hey friend... I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to against ya here. In this case, I think that what they did was right considering the situation. It's either kill the animals now; or wait until the animals kill little kids playing in their front yards, and then have to kill the animals, ending up with dead little kids and dead animals. I mean these animals were pretty close to more developed areas; thus giving an even bigger risk to people.

I agree with your thinking on this. I think that it is extremely important for people, states, counties, sheriffs, organizations, etc, to LEARN from this and perhaps next time be prepared when they are fully aware that there is an animal sanctuary near a residential area and that the owner is less than stable... to say the least. I think it was a complete shame what happened. Given the circumstances, there was little else that could have been done, but again hopefully this will make people more aware in the future.

I'm sure most of you have by now seen the story here in the good ole' Buckeye state. Apparently a man owned a "preserve" where he kept over 50 various exotic animals. He decided he would release them all into the wild, and then kill himself.
Apparently there were lions, tigers, bears, wolves, giraffes, etc roaming around the interstate.
Does anyone else think there should be federal laws on the books that prohibit every day Joe Six Packs from owning dangerous animals?
This guy did have everything registered.
