I think most folks are used to corals that require lighting. The yellows are supposedly NOT photosynthetic although they do need light to live like anythnig else and require several feedings a week (At least 3) on brine, snow and phyto. Add to that how they fall apart due to algae and cyno so you need to give them moderately strong flow and intermittent bursts to keep it knocked off.

By 'deep sea yellow gorgonian', you're probably referring to Diodogorgia nodulifera – a species which almost always starves to death in aquariums. They are often labeled as ‘easy’ or ‘hardy’ (by retailers who make money selling them) because they might live 3 to 18 months or so in a reef tank (in other words, they often die slowly and don’t cause immediate alarm to the aquarist).
That said, they can be successfully kept in specialized systems – but they are COMPLETELY non-photosynthetic and need frequent (or constant) feedings of fairly large zooplankton (Diodogorgia sp. have large polyps and big appetites) and prefer lower light and moderately strong flow to prevent algae overgrowth.
