I am having an issue with star polyps and mushrooms in my 46 gal tank. I also have some pumping xenia, but they are dong great. The Xenia were added about 6 months ago, but there was only a single branch on a rock I bought. They are spreading great, but the more they spread the worse everything else is doing. It's gotten to the point were my mushrooms are curling up and turning white.
My best guess has been the xenia was using nutrients that the other corals needed, but adding additional chemicals has not helped. I am using Iodine and Essential elements weekly. Water parameters are doing fine and my fish have no issues. Any input is greatly appreciated.
I'd also like to know if I should pull the dying mushrooms out of the tank. Not sure if they are a big issue once dead. Thanks.
