soft coral vs sps

How do you tell the diffference? And, is it okay to have them together in the same reef tank?

SPS's are the small polyp corals that when conditions are ideal typically have the brightest colors of any coral. I would avoid mixing softies and LPS's with SPS's.

Would that be like star polyps and yellow polyps? If so, then I already have mixed with soft corals. I haven't noticed any problems. Is there something I should look for?

Nope those are softies. Heres an example of an SPS

You can mix, I do, but it isn't reccomended. Softies and LPS's wage chemical warfare and can cause problems for SPS's. To help avoid problems I run carbon but I will soon be getting rid of all my softies and LPS's for a SPS's only tank.

I will have to find somewhere to read up on this subject. If your looking for a home for the soft corals I have lots of room still.

One of the popular species of SPS corals is acropora. Do a search for them. Really nice looking.
