Are guys sure she tore her ACL? I thought she only twisted/sprained her knee, which would be quite acceptable IMO to laugh at/with, especially since she want running BACK
to first base after missing it. It's not like she was just troting the bases and there was an unusual divot or something. But if she tore her ACL, not so much funny.
I think they made a better deal out of her getting a homerun then necessary though. Do you know how many defensive football players go without scoring a touchdown? Or how many goalie's never score a goal?
no... she missed first base, was called to go touch the base before hitting second, went to turn around, and tore her ACL.

Yea, I got the over the fence homerun, and she was trotting the bases, but she missed first base, probably busy celebrating with the other players, coaches, etc on the way to first, andt then turned to sprint/jog back to first and hurt her knee.

Now that is something I didn't take into account, maybe she was jumping up and down excessively celebrating, you know pulling a Gramatica after a field goal and tore her ACL.

as someone who played ball in college, I've RUN the bases millions of times at full speed. (not that I was particularly fast) Never blew my knee.
I'm simply pointing out that this girl has already hit the home run, and was jogging the bases after an out of the field home run and blew her knee.
That has to be difficult to do. Part of a home run is rounding the bases. It be like her hitting a ball to the pitcher and then saying oh she could round the bases but not hit the ball over the fence we should just not field the ball and let her round the bases because she could. It isn't bad sportsmanship, it part of the game. Bad sportsmanship would have been tripping her then spiking her. Then saying you have to make it around the bases for the homer.
But that being said, unless it was a real game I would have let her score.
Okie dokey..i was more talking to reno...good points tho

I also played college baseball and I think this story is great. I totally disagree with the statement that guys wouldn't have helped another player around the bases.

She had never hit a home run before so I bet she was running full speed thinking it wasn't going out of the park!

Don't get me wrong, walk of homers are awesome, I'm glad she hit it. The team carrying her around the bases is a story of kindness.
I'm just pointing out that she tore her ACL after an over the fence home run. And it shouldn't have had to happen.
