Sohal Tang Question

Can i keep one of these in a lightly stocked 125, do they need a 8' tank. I have heard mixed answers on this. In the tank I have a 3-4" hippo, LMB, P Clownfish, and a Heniochus Butterfly. Probibly 200# of L Rock so there are tons of hiding spots. I dont plan on adding anymore fish for a long time except a school of Chromis. Probibly 5 or 7
The tank is also set up as a room divider so there is two swimming lanes not just one are in front. Hope that makes sence.

From my experience Sohal tangs are very hardy, buy also very aggressive fish. I had one in a 90g tank for few months and got rid of it after he killed my yellow nose butterfly. If I were you I would look for a more peaceful fish. Sorry, I know this is not the answer you are looking for.

Thanks for your imput. If im correct a 90 is a tall tank correct. From what I understand these guys need there space. I have alot of realistate in my tank right now.
Anybody else have any luck with these guys. Good or bad. I dont want a massacure in my hands.

A 125 is not suited to one of these fish as it begins to grow. Aggression aside, they get large and are very active. A member (64Ivy) has one in his 500 gallon reef and this fish is enormous (well over a foot). Crowd them and the aggression is exacerbated. I think very few home aquariums are suited to this species.

i agree with nicetry, my buddy here has a show size in a 400 gallon reef.. had a kole tang and fox face also..otherwise its all small fish "anthias, chromis, etc" and it killed both the foxface and kole tang, which were in the tank long before. they just harass the crap out of anything you put with them..i would not put one in a 125 with any other big fish, because they will be goners.
