Okay I have a few questions, is the tank drilled, and does it have an overflow in it? For Lights which coral need it will be at least 500$ unless you get them used. My 95 FOWLR came to be 2500 and I priced out a reef would be about3500. You'll need a sump system and protien skimmer, Get about 100lbs of LR and at least a 2in sand bed of LS "live sand" Get the tank set up and let it run for 3-4 weeks, get some snails and crabs, and look for some reef safe fish. Tangs are to big, but gobys, some angels, clowns, mandarins and many other fish would be awesome. Your looking to spend another 2k on stuff for the tank, I'll try to price it out
Heater-30$
Sump/fuge & skimmer-200-300$
LS-100$
100lbs of LR- at least 500$
Lights-at least 500-600$
Water-100$ & tag on 50$ for top offs
Plumbing-100$
Power Heads-80$
Main pump-300$
Maybe UV sterilizer-300$
Also just stuff needed for standard maintnance. I would pick up a book and read about it, I'm not sure how experienced you are but tanks don't get filled with fish overnight, most tanks aren't fully stocked w/ corals and fish for 1-2years. In this hobby patience is the best thing, going to fast will create problems. Good Luck, also check out the new marine aquarium, as for fish look at some and people will tell you if they will work out or not.

it depends, how long is your tank. It's a hard question to anwser because a 4in fish eats and produces more waste than 4 1in fish. Some fish are also messy eaters. I'll give you a general idea of how many fish you could have, I have a 95gal tank and this is what I want and have
I have:
Longnose buttefly 3in, not reef safe
2ocellaris clowns,each1.5in, reef safe
LawnMowerBlenny-reef safe and eat alagea
Royal Gramma 1in-reef safe
I plan on getting
valenitini puffer- get to be like 4innot reef safe, small fish but eat meaty foods, kinda messy little guys
yellow watchman goby-get to be like4inreef safe
flame angel-get to be about 3inusually reef safe
That would be a bit overstocking for a reef, so instead of a puffer sized fish you could get a jawfish or something. Make a list of fish you want to get and I'll let you know if it's to many or if you could get more.

Well to start out I think you might want to look into a bio-wheel for a filter as they seem easy to maintain. If you are going to mix your salt do it ovet time like mix 3 pounds then wait like 30min and mix another three untill you get your hydro up. Use Live sand that way it will add the bacteria and all that to a new tank. dont worry about coral or inverts till you get the feel for everything. Lighting is important but at first I would just consentrate on establishing a good enviroment for your tank. I spent 600$ on my tank, filter, light, salt and sand.
I can tell you now that this is not a cheap hobby. but so worth its money if you love fish.
Here is a list
Bio-Wheel 50.00
live sand 70.00 for 100gal tank
Salt 30.00
Lights 50.00 you may need 4
Live rock 200.00 You dont have to have but it makes your enviroment 10 fold better
You do not have to go out and spend 1000s of dollars
Here is a snapshot of my tank its new and like I said i have 700$ tied up in this and i just started

There is no reef or coral as of yet im planning on when its fully done to be around 4 or 5 thousand dollars.
You need to also know about where the fish come from that you get because if you get a sick fish it can contaminate your whole tank. So lets say you get the hang of things and you decide to get a 200.00 fish and you stick it in your tank after you get it used to the temp and all that. Say it has ICK well you just contaminated your whole tank. The use of a seprate smaller tank is used for medicating and making sure the fish will adapt to your main tank. Like i said before all this will come with time as you read on about the fish you want and how they will react with the ones you have. the main thing you need to do before starting this hobby is research it read peoples issues they have been having. My tank above has very little in it as of now, time is key when making a stable enviroment for your animals. if you have any questions please feel free to contact me with them. I will be more then happy to help you out any way i can.

Sea Horses need a special tank of their own, you could get 2-3 other small fish.

Now a seahorse is a bit more diffacult to add to a new tank they do not do to well with Ph issues. I would not add one till your tank has been online for a few months and you are comfy with it. I would start out with the Clown Fish or some Damsels as they are bold fish and can take harsh enviroments. im not saying this like you dont know what you are doing it takes a good year to get a tank to its natual enviroment. New tanks need to grow so to speak.
Also SeaHorses need a coral enviroment and are very hard to take care of around other fish. I have seen this done but the horse usally will not last to long. So if you are wanting a coral tank then thats fine to put a horse in but you should be aware of the types of coral as some tend to kill off the horses.

Hmmmmm...I wonder why you say they need a coral environment?
I am pretty sure that a majority of wild seahorses are found in seagrass beds.
Oh, and damsels are definantly very bad tank mates. Clownfish are very 'iffy.

I'll try to help you out with your fish list.
You could get a dwarf angel
a blenny
a clown or 2
jawfish
goby
and maybe a kole tang or something.
Damsels are aggresive, you would want to put the tang and angel i nlast.
