Yesterday we got back from detroit for thanksgiving and when we got home the door to out basement was wide open because someone didnt shut it all the way. The temperature here in southwest michigan was in the high 20's low 30's all week, And needless to say, our basement was the same temp as outside for a while. (hope no squirrels got in). Anyways my tank dropped from 80 to 68 degrees and i dont know how long it was for. Everything is back to normal now except one of my kenya trees and one of my mushrooms wont open...will they be ok? theres two of each in the tank and one of them both are doing well. I guess oh well if they die, at least it wasnt a much more expensive fish/anemone/invert ect.

I would just give it time. Mushrooms are pretty resilient and as for the Kenya tree it might surprise you.
The same thing kinda happened to my tank. I live in an apartment and sometimes the front door doesn't catch right especially if it is windy. Well, I was in a hurry to get to work and it was really windy and the door blew wide open. Now, my tank is in direct line of the tank to a degree. I get home from work and the apartment is cold. My tank suffered no ill effects. I think it actually looks the best it ever has. Now, I was extremely lucky though, because the door was open for about 6 hours.

My kenya trees and mushrooms survived the heater bracking and shocking the tank..it took it a month but it bounced back..Corals shrink down until there is nothing left..so as long as there is any fleah it has hope.
I once had a snot spot left of xenia and it sprouted anew 3 months after it melted to nothing...so when I say anything left I mean just that.

Im really not to worried...i had to move my origonal kenya tree so i ripped it off the rock and there was just a tiny bit of flesh and now theres an inch tall kenya tree. Im just glad all the expensive stuff suvived.

In my experience once kenya trees are established in a rock it's pretty hard to get rid of them, at one point I was trying to get rid of the kenya trees in my old 29. I'd rip them out every month and they'd grow right back. I had to do hot water treatment any where I really wanted them gone. if you want more just frag your little one next month, when it's twice as big as it is now lol.

lol....if you want to get rid of the Kenya for good..after cutting it, smother the base with epoxy...if it can not "breathe" it will not grow
