I think the black sand hides a lot the "dirtyness" the tank could have, also, I bet it cuts down on the nasty rim normally found around the sand line because the light color of the sand reflects more light onto the glass. I would like to do a tank like that someday maybe. The tank looks awesome as always. I do not blame you about this Midwest humid heat we are having right now. My A/C is barely keeping up here in Indy. If it wasn't so humid it wouldnt be bad, well atleast the humid air keeps the evaporation down in the tank. . . lol When it comes to saving RO water, I'll take what I can get. (To all of you out west, I have family that lives in Tuscan, and no way would I ever live out there, it may be dry heat, but it is WAY to hot) Sorry for the thread jack, Looks good man!

Looks great, How long has the tank been up & running?
I have a 55g also, I can't waiting until mine is 6 months old so i can start adding cool stuff.
