As some of you may know I was having a terrible time with hair algae and was about to giveup. I decided to basically break the tank down take all the live rock out resmooth the sand and go at it again. Here are a few shots of my progress and its been a while since I have even been comfortable about posting pictures of my tank. Happy Day!!! :)

Looks good! It takes a lot of work. But after you see all your hard work in place it sure makes you feel good. Congrats!

Did you scrub the parts of rock that had algae on it with a toothbrush or something similar? If you get rid of the calcium phosphate on the rock you will have a much better chance of keeping the hair algae away. Looks like you are progressing pretty well though!

Are those window blinds I see reflecting on the tank?
Is the tank getting any direct sunlight? If so,That could be your problem.

Looks like progress has been made...good job. I agree with thomas on the direct sunlight...it could be a source of your problem. Looks good though......

No the reflection was my bedroom door open and it was daylight outside and I had the lights off in my room. Although it was getting direct sunlight for sometime until I bought very thick curtains and put in my room. Since then it seems to have helped a bunch.

when I had my near open sunlight, not evem direct it caused me to have lots of hair algea. Move it and you will see the difference. Leave it and it would be likely that it will happen again.

Yes I took all the rocks out and scrubbed them with a toothbrush and this is the 3rd time I have done that. But this time I rearranged the sand rocks and waterflow and that fixed the problem. Or at least we will say this is the longest I have went without having an outbreak of hairalgae. I did a 50 percent water change also.
