again, my just an amazing tank. its my idol for sometime when i go reef. i have it set up as a background on my computer

hey how have u been? the leopard is doing great... i made sure to have the fish store feed him first... these types of wrasses usually will parish due to not eating... the lady at the fish store feed it and it ate so i grabbed it up... and it was only $20 so it wasnt a hard choice lol.... he eats like a pig now mainly any kind of mysid or brine shrimp cubes i put in the tank.... also through out the day it hunts for pods and such.... not sure how many pods it eats in a day but im glad it eats frozen foods otherwise it could be touchy since i already have a 3" yellow coris wrasse and a mandarin dragonet that hunt pods all day long too... my sump is full of pods in my macro algae so im sure it kinda helps regenerate the population somewhat...
im glad u enjoy my tank Gnorman let me know if u ever have any questions

thanks for the info murph
the wrasse will be going in a semi-aggressive FOWLR... do you think thats ok?
i have herd of this kind of fish being a very touchy eater. so if i do pick one up i will make sure it eats at the LFS.

Murph, I have a 150 gallon I'm turning into a reef tank, I have everything nailed down as far as equipment goes except the lighting and I love the way your tank looks. What kind of lights are you using exactly?

should be ok as long as the fish arent too agressive.... it seems like more of a shy fish when compared to my yellow coris wrasse but key thing is look for one thats already eating and the like sand to bury themselves in at night or when frightened

Looks like we have similar taste. I was looking at doing 3 250 w w/ either 12k or 14k but it looks like you just made the decision for me, thanks again!

it works great in keeping Calcium and Alkalinty stable and alot more cost effective and accurate than dosing my tank due to its large demand....it takes a lot of fiddling with at first but then it runs pretty smoothly i check the levels once a week then adjust from there to compensate...IMO a necessary piece of equipment on a larger sps/clam tank
I have one that is made for a 150gal. Its on my 55 gal. I only have 2 sps and about 5 lps corals and I'm still struggling with low calcium. I decided to try a different media in the reactor to see if it makes a difference. My KH is around 10-14 and my MG is above 1200. My Ca stays between 320 and 380. I want to get a couple of clams but I think I need to wait for the calcuim problem to be solved.
My acropora is growing like crazy too! I'm not to sure what to do.

what kind of reactor and what kind of media are u using??
can u tell me what the bubble rate coming out of the CO2 bottle is and what the effluent rate is??
do u have a Ph probe to measure the Ph of the alk coming out of the first chamber... Ph probes help guide u to whats a proper bubble count vs effluent rate i keep my Ph coming out of the first chamber at 6.4
give me a lil info and i can help u out some....
it seems like u probably have the CO2 set to high and the effluent too low.... that usually causes high alk and low calcium

keeps my water excellent from what i can tell... lol
Hey murphy how do you do the mesh mod to the ASM skimmers? Also how much better does it make them?
Thanks.

Beatiful tank. Hey I have a question for you I 75 gallon tank and I was wondering if you can give an idea about the light. I planning to do simple reef tank with soft coral with a little bit easy hard coral. My question is I found a light that I want is a Current USA 48 inch Outer Orbit with T5s & 150W HQI Bulbs, 2X150W MH Lamp 2x54w Actinic 460nm
2x54w Actinic 420nm 9 blue leds/9 white leds 48.25" X 15.25" X 4.25" without legs (With legs the light is 7.25" tall. The legs expand to a maximum length of 48.5". The on/off switches, located on the ends of the light require another 1/4 inch of clearance. The power cords come out of the back of the light and require another one inch of clearance.) 529W/4.6 amps 516 watt output from the metal halide and T5s. Is that find to use that light I just want other people input because other people said that I should not use it because I would fry my coral. Other people say that they would use it too and I see other people that has 75 gallon tank use the the Currrent USA Outer Orbit with MH. So I'm still debating whether or not I should get it. Also I saw in one of you pic that you hook up phosban reactor and I was wondering how did you hook that up, how much phosban carbon did you put inside, and if you leave it on running because I also have one the brand name is Two Little Fish phosban. I'm just wondering if you have the same because it seems to me you have the same exact one.
Thanx,
Jay

its very easy.... take some plastic mesh.... if u want a better explanaition ask and ill show u... anyways take apart the pump take out the needlewheel impeller break off all the needles leave about 1/8" left put 2 pieces of mesh on the wheel cut off excess then zip tie them to the disc.... put skimmer back together start it up and there yah go.... takes about 15 mins and pretty much has doubled output on my skimmer

hey jay about the light i dont have any experience with current products other than using some PC lights before but they worked just fine....
i think that setup would work good on your tank size.... u would be allowed to keep most everything u wanted
as for the phosban reactor it is a two lil fishies brand and gee i dont remember off hand how much media i run i know it was whatever they recommeneded for my size tank.... i run it nonstop and its powered by a small 100gph powerhead that i throttle down using the lil ballvalve that came with the reactor chamber
hope that helps some

It is made by a lfs and its called Marine Concepts its a German company. I have a ph probe and it stays around 6.5. The media was the stuff that came with it. It's large rubble. I ordered new media called ARM that claims to work with less CO2 to maintain higher levels of Ca. I have also considered that my test kit is off. I ordered a different brand of that too, to compare results.
The CO2 is: 52, and effluent rate is: about 200
The alk this morning with those setting is: 9 DKH
The ph probe is reading 6.6 and I calibrated it last week.
Thanks for your help
