today some one is giving me a kenya tree coral and some green star polyps are these good starters and do they grow very fast?

IMO only if you have the lights already. They might not make it until the lights show up unless they are getting here like tomorrow, Tues, at the LATEST. Just my $.02

green star polyps grow very fast. not sure anything on the kenyan, but i hear good things about them. Wait..... you were the one taht was getting two corals from your mom's co-worker but didnt have the right lighting yet right? Does this mean that you actualy got the lighting?! or are you going to risk these corals before you get it?! when are you planning on getting the lights?!!

well the guy thats giving me them has been into SWF for 10+years and he said the should do ok in only 1 watt per gallon that what my LFS said too

ya thats me..... well the birthday is October first so if i get enough monery ill buy them around then ... but the person thats giving me them said that they would do ok in the lighting that i have right now but like i said i am planning on getting 4x65 watts of PC lighting

They might make it but they will look crappy. They will be starving and most likely will have some die off. I'd hold off till you get the lights if you can. Just ask the guy if he can keep them for a couple more weeks.

you will try keeping these corals with insufficient lighting? or you will try to get the guy to hold them for a little longer?

ill try to get him to hold them but if i cant i will get the lighting A.S.A.P is there any household item that i can use for light until i can get the aquarium lights like one of those work lamps?

Those corals do well in my 29 gal with 130 whatt pc lighting I had 3 24" full spectrum light bulbs over them for about 2 months once I got the pc lighting they started growing and lock much beter.
