New corals won't always open up right away. It's still adjusting to your water. Give it a day or so, and I bet it will be okay.

HI MILLER, I purchaced a Leather coral once and it took alittle while for it to open...everything should be ok...I think your new arrival enjoys med to low currents...along with some calcium :) GoodLuck :D

does that say ammonia is at 2.5?
everything else seems pretty good (salinity could be a little higher, but many do have theirs at that level), except that, if that is the case, it definitely is anot a good sign, also what are your nitrItes?

i as well am most curious about the ammonia lvl.
many corals will not opoen up for the first few days in a new home. if we are just reading into you post and you have no ammonia in the tank then it should be ok.

The ammonia level you posted is way to high for most corals. I too wonder how old your tank is. Has it cycled? If so, look for something that is causing the ammonia spike. If you fix this and the colt survives the resulting water changes, you should be fine. In the future, try to test your water before you add anything and work on getting this good first. You will find that this way your corals will open fuller and sooner than if you place them in water that is alot different than where they came from.

I don't know about that ammonia, but other then that I am sure that the coral is just adjusting to its new home. Isn'--- also true guys that some corals undergo a waxing process where the shed off excess bacteria and waste? I believe that this could also be a cause of a coral not opening, but not for this situation. What type of lighting do you have?
