i believe either my unknown crab or a red coris wrasse ate/attacked my feather duster...sparing the lecture.. which one is more likely? the duster was on top of my live rock.. i obviously know the crab can climb...the wrasse i rarely see it lives under the sand but ive been doing some research and it appears they can eat more than bristle worms, so perhaps it attacked my feather duster?
im trying to figure out what to get rid of.
any thoughts is appreciated

im figured it was him, imt hinking about isolating him to another tank, getting another feather duster and see if it happens again. img onna take the wrasse back regardless i was told it'll get too big for my tank (65G) and it lives under the sand, and again is rarely if ever seen, i got my tank to look at stuff. not wonder where it is

I bought a purple lobster about 8 months ago. I have seen him maybe 5 times total. I paid $44 for mine. So yah. I feel your pain.

I have 3 feather dusters in my tank and they lose their heads every so often. The first time it happened I thought the same thing (who ate my feather duster?) then about about a month later it popped back up in a new spot. Full head and everything.

My guess is that it's one of those shrimp. I was looking for you to list a pepermint, as I have watched one of those just rip a feather duster right out of his tube and eat him, but I wouldn't put it past the coral banded or the fire.

Nothing really eats them. If the get stressed they can drop their crowns, or leave their tube altogether. The cause is typically water instability or a change in environment rather than being attacked though.

negative...
1) there's a slit all the way down his tube and pieces of his saliva'd home ripped to shreds here and there
something ate it.. my bet is the crab

thats my thoughts too...im going to isolate the crab, and get another feather duster ,and see how it goes. and then in a few weeks put the crab back and if it gets eaten.. then ya ill know heh
the crab has so much personality i hate to just get rid of him, im getting rid of the coris wrasse, no need to have a fish i never see.. he's going back today, i had to remove all my rockwork and sift through the sand to catch that lil bugger lol..but i caught him haha
then i had to redo my rockwork cause it's so much lik ea puzzle and i dindt remember how it went together.. although i kinda like how it looks better now. . more purple showing...
oh and that lobster.. i got my longest look at him and to see yup he's a live...moving his home.. he was out and about scurrying around heh
