something eating my xoos?

I have had a huge colony of xoos for a couple years and all of a sudden they are pretty much gone. One day there was an empty circle about 4x4 in the middle and within a couple of days they were all gone. Probably a 2 foot by 1 foot section!! I haven't added anything new in quite a while other than some hermits and snails. Could my peppermint shrimp do this? Nothing else in the tank has been bothered and it seems to happen at night.

Check if there are any small snails near them. I think they're called sundial snails, they feed on zoanthids. I had some come as hitchhikers and ate most of my zoos until i read about them.

you didnt mention it but my emerald crab ate my zoo's slowly day by day but i never had hermets eat any of my corals.
you might want to get a flashlight with some red film over it or a red light and check out what comes out in hte middle of the night when its completely dark
