Something in my Tank (Looks Like Tiny Hairs?)

I came home today after seeing my family for the holidays and noticed that floating (kind of suspended) in the water was a lot of what looked to be very short hairs, or like someone had dipped something fuzzy into my tank. Any ideas on what this might be and how to get rid of it?
I just added 50lbs of live rock on wed. and had some die off due to my tank being new (cycling) dont know if this is part of the issue but thought I would mention it just in case.

No, I dont think its mold. The pieces are white and very thin, like a strand of hair and also very short most less than a cm. Not sure though, so it may be, what does mold in a SWT looks like nuro?
Its bugging my like crazy now!! I just want it OUT so I can start adding fish!! So any help is greatly appreciated!

The tank is cycling as you mentioned, is this something that is commonly associated with a new tank?
Also is there anything I should be doing to get rid of it or will it leave on its own?

Also, just an added thought, if you have any shrimp, that could be babies. One day I got up and it looked like someone had dumped the dryer lint collector in my tank, and it wasn't until a few hours later I noticed what it really was! My lionfish was fat that day.....
