Ok got my toadstool about a week ago and it does not look good, It has good flow, peramiters are all ok, I was thinking of fragging it to try and save what i can. Does any one have any suggestions?
Got a hydnophora the same day and it is doing awesome.
Derasa clam, star polyps, shrooms, linkia star, anenomes, and fish are all good.
Arghhh...

thats some serious necrosis. looks like it could be a bacterial infection. increase flow towards the leather to assist in debriding the dead tissue. dont move it if you can avoid it it will only aggrivate it more. not much else you can do. I wouldnt reccomend any dips. flow and consistency is probably your best bet.
fraggin wont help much in this particular case as it looks to me like the entire coral is infected. JMO

So a little more flow should help? How will i know if it is not gonna make it?
What do you mean when you say consistency? Consistency in what?

consistency meaning, dont touch it move it poke it prod it etcetera. if you aggrivate it it will expend energy in a defensive nature instead of expending energy to heal.

I would frag it and see if 1 or 2 pieces survive.
Ok bang i am confused on what to do? I researched and found that someone else's dying toadstool was fraged and it survived, I would hate not to frag it and have it die, rather than leave it be and it die.

I live east of Hazeldell. Have you contacted the store owner and let him know whats going on incase your frag attempt dosent work? Maybe it won't be total lose.
I havent got anything from that store yet. I have purchased most my stuff from Seahorse or Sautas so far.

Sauta's is close by OMSI is best I can say, its kinda tricky to get too. They have a site and get a map is the best way, its a small place and they do mostly sps and arent the cheapest place to buy.

Best deals are online, luckily my friend and i are able to split the cost and save on shipping and handleing. I also like to go to the seahorse, but that place is really "buyer beware". Lots of conflicting info between woody and isac.

Well i waited a few days and decided to frag it, I could tell there was some good spots trying to survive as there were little tenticals coming out, so i was able to get 5 good frags out of it. now we will see how it does from there.
Also my son wanted a frag, do you think it would be ok in his tank, as he is running pc's around 150 watts? I dont think they will survive under those lights but i could be wrong.

A leather coral would be fine, IMO, under those lights....assuming it is not like 150W over a 150 Gallon

Just an update, I fragged my toadstoll to about five small nickel size frags last month, they are all doing well and growing rapidly with no skin disease. thanks to all for the advice.
