Son saves a fish!

On my way home from work and my wife tells me, that on the way out
the door to go to the local farmers market...my son sees my new algae blenny
on the floor in front of my tank.
He calmly picked the fish up and put it back into the tank. After sitting on the
bottom for a couple of tense minutes, it swam away and appears to be just fine.
I new these fish had a tendancy to sometimes jump, but I am amazed how far this
fish fell, and we do not know how long it had happened before my son spotted it.
Talk about tough little fish, a six foot fall and landing on carpet....then a giant hand
grabs you and puts you back from where you came.
Tomarrow I will be aquiring some "eggcrate" to place on top of my tank to stop the
potential leap to freedom, or whatever it might be. lol
I only just bought a couple of blennies yesterday to help with a case of hair algae,
so I am happy that my 8 year old was on the spot at the right time.
Funny how timing can play a role for a fish, and not even sushi in this case.

I work at a lfs and we have fish jump from our top tanks about 7 feet and land on concrete and are always fine I find it odd that they can survive that but they always do

Great story..but this might be your problem. They generally do not get along with their own kind. One may be harassing/chasing the other.

Thanks for the replies,
I thought about problems keeping more than one blenny...
I kind of doubt it though, only because, my tank is large 135 and has over 200
lbs. of live rock in it.
I have a tough enough time finding the little guys as it is...
Also, I would think the larger blenny would harrass the smaller one, and it was the
larger blenny that made the leap.
I will keep monitoring though, just in case...but for now an eggcrate cover is my first
purchase today.
