i had a 4ft tall tank once, it was but impossible to maintain. you cant reach in to any level unless your Shaq, and you have to do everything w/ a stick or grabber, and cleaning the glass was difficult at best. Something as simple as retrieving the fallen algae magnet requires a step ladder, and two grabbers, and a spotter.
Plus w/ you reefing guys wanting to get sufficient light output to the bottom of 4 ft requires much more wattage than your used to.
However on the plus side- tall tanks look amazing, and the vertical height is quite impressive to see fish swiming at various heights

the tank is 8ft long 4ft wide and 2.5 ft tall hahahaha my little 5'7 butt wouldn't even think of 4 ft tall of acrylic to clean that would be a nightmare for me plus too expensive to build

well i have been completey slowed down by my tanks still not selling locally or on ----......... if i could sell my 125 and my 150 then i could go buy the acrylic but ... it aint happening i did find out though that a local that sells frags and fish wholesale also build canopies and stand that are really awsome looking and it would cost be 400 just him to build it materials, and delivery included so i am gonna go that route...... this is taking forever i want it not i want it now!!!! .... sorry just through a temper tantrum

Acrylic tanks require a stand that will support the entire bottom of the tank, or else the bottom of the tank may pull away from the seams under the weight of the water.
Also, acrylic tanks require much more support across the top of the tank to keep the acrylic from bowing apart and splitting seams
Food for thought

Here are a few more morsels. If 600 gallons of water weighs aprox.5000 lbs and lets say you have 6 legs on your metal stand, thats aprox.833 lbs per leg.
Now being a professional carpenter i would advise you to make sure you can disperse the weight so you dont have a leg puncture your floor. If in fact it is a wood floor.
Also if it is a wood structure you are resting this tank on ,make sure the area you intend to place this weight is beefy enough.
In any event this sound like its going to be a fun build to watch ....Good Luck
