currently i have a berlin turbo skimmer for my tank it was purchased when i had my 75 gal. which it worked decent on. but i don't think it's really cutting it for my new setup. which is a 125gal display. with a 20g refugium and a 30 gal sump. roughly 100 lbs of sand and 170 or so lbs of rock. which skimmer would u guys suggest? i've been looking into the asm g3 would i be ok with that. i'm not really looking to spend more then 400 bucks on a skimmer. any suggestions would help out alot thanks..

G-3 would be a perfect skimmer for your tank.... if u did the recirculation modification it would even be bettr should cost u about $250-$300 for the skimmer

that's what i was thinking doing the recirc with the feed with i guess from what i've been reading a rio 800 pump and also doing the gate valve mod. now it's just looking for the best deal on it... are they really as good as everyone says. i'm rather disapointed by my berlin turbo skimmer. i don't even think i'd pull out a cup a month. i've tried multiple different settings and itll work nicely for a little while then a few hours later not pulling out anything.. are the g3's easy to tune and once set are they generally pretty good with keeping it that way or do they constantly need messing around with any help is definatly greatly appreciated

Take a look at the Marine Technical Concepts HSA-250. They have an in sump and external. They make great products. I have their skimmer and it works great. And they are located in Jersey.

xhappyx....
as far as the stock skimmer goes couldnt be easier to use....
all u have to do is adjust the outflow pipe to let out the water at a certain height..
anyways heres a pic i never adjust mine anmore and i pull out 1/4 cup every4 days at least this was only like 2 days into it after cleaning now if i do the recirc mod it should double this output

well the pump sits at the bottom of the sump and feeds the skimmer so ud need a minimum of like 5" in the sump and then u can have a max of like 12" id say....
