i looked long and hard! and found nothing! i am looking at a new metal halide for my tank i currently have a 30gl that measures 24l x 12w x 24h i currenly have a a clip on 150 metal halide on there w/ a 20k bulb!
i was bored at work today and found a 24in metal halide that is 380w total!
its a 250 metal halide w/ 10k and 2 65w t5 tru blue atinics! for very cheap!
right now my tank is mostly softies and lps but will soon start to get some sps want to let my tank get a little older!
my question is this going to be way to much light for my tank! i was thinking atinics from 11am till 1pm the MH from 1 -7pm then atinics till 9pm!
what are you opions? i know heat but fans should take care of it! chiller if i have to !

na its a deeper tank..I got 2x250 14k on my 75 and its 20" deep

Since you said it's 24" deep I don't think it will be to much light. I just ordered 250W MHs for my tank and it's 22" deep (125 gallon). We'll see what everyone else says, but I think you will be fine. Just make sure you acclimate your tank to the MH's (turning on only for about 1 hour a day and then slowly increase the time).

I have two 250 watt 14k's and 2 super actinic t-5's and 2 daylight actinic t-5's on my 75 gallon. It I really like it. Just how cheap were the lights you found?

found the Odyssea lights at aquatraders, I would imagine..same lights I run and are great for the money..they where $160 free shipping right. I run the 48" 760w with 14k phoenix and coralvue ballast

just looked at the web site you stated above! wow way cheaper and i have actually heard of that brand befor ! how do you like your light?

i think its a nice light...soild build good for the money. I just replaced the bulbs cause I dont like 10k..to yellow and I replaced teh ballast cause the stock ones dont push full power..but to start with it is a great light and I am still well under cost of the same light from others even after my upgrades.
