Ok for heavens sake its for my fishs health.I have a 55gal tank with 15pounds of LR,a striped puffer, volitan lion, chainlink eel.
My water parameters are fine, when my nitrates get high,i do a water change(monthly). Should i get more live rock or get a protein skimmer? If i get a protein skimmer it will be a seaclone at the end of this month. So its not for me,it for my fish to stay alive!!!!!:)
Thankyou for all you help.

Your money would be better spent on Good Live Rock rather than a Sea Clone skimmer...
Or save your money and then purchase a skimmer that will serve you and your fish in the long term...

Seaclones are bottom of the line skimmers that just flat aren't worth the money.
Do 5 gal. per WEEK and your fish will do great.
If you wait and do 25% per month the nitrates are sky high and have been and it's a bigger stress shock to the fish as well.
The LR serves as a base for denitrifying bacteria plus for maco and micro algae that utilize the nitrates as fertilizer, thus removing it from the water.
