ok should have had more detail maybe, I said the white body of the shrimp looks darker, not the white stripe down his back, he seems to be acting ok been in there 2 weeks about, do they look like this when they are about to molt? I just have the standard test kits ph, trite, trate,& ammo-- do I need another juat for him, I dont have tons of corals sucking ou the calcium, but maybe I should still add, after I get a test of course. Any help guys?

I tried to give a bit of help this morning but our phone line was cut somewhere and I couldn't send. so.... here goes
First, let's assume that the white you are referring to on your shrimp is the stripe going up either side of the back and the part with the discoloration is below the white stripes on the sides. Right?
Are these darker areas dots or more like blotches? Dots maybe going in an arc? If it's not dots is the discoloration sort of like showing where one might imagine the stomach would be?
Now, about the possibility of molting. That could be but in my experience with my skunk cleaner shrimp he doesn't get darker spots before he molts but he does change his behavior a bit. Usually he loves to be hand fed and flies out of his hidey hole for his dinner. I have noticed that he doesn't come out for his treat for a couple of days and then he molts. When he does molt any discolorations along his side (the arc dots or the stomach blotch) go away with his old shell.
Is that helpful at all? I sure hope so!
