When you hear flawless music reproduced faithfully, it's mindblowing. Here are my Martin Logan ascent "i's" with dual Martin Logan Grotto subs, not the best equipment but better than most, "Elite" I have my eye on some Levinson or Chord equipment...
.
Acustics and spatial planning are essential with electrostatic speakers, even at ultra low volume you can feel the base in your chest, you can sense the singer moving around, the details are stunning. Granted I can probably break a few noise polution laws and do some damage to items in the house if I were to crank these guy to full level, thats not the point, it's the crystal clear, perfection of total music.......You can close your eyes and position yourself in the acustic center and you feel as if the music is surrounding you, subtle, very subtle but so realistic ......There's been a few times when we've cranked it all the way and you think your heads going to implode....LOL

I tend to listen to a lot of acustic music, even though I'm a geeky white boy, Rhianna has 2 songs on her latest CD that have incredible vocals # 7 & 9

lol, poor nano.

I like High Quality sound, but not loud sound. Well, I do like it when high action film scores are turned up loud.

you just have to know how to balance everything out, it all has to play in harmony.
you cant have subs that hit so low or hard that they overpower the music, and you also can not have too much treble. like the people who put horns in their car (the kind the ice cream man uses). it just sounds horrible.

teen you crack me up. I can't stand neons and trunks that rattle.
I had such a nice sounding system and all my friends thought it was wasted because I didn't play much hip hop.

I'm a sucker for good female vocals. What is the name of the album?

And on a side note, I'm glad to see this thread is back on track. I like this topic and didn't want to see a flame war shut it down.

My friend put a great sound system in his car and it was great, the car was such a POS the second time he ever ran it........
He blew the rear window out.
broken glass everywhere.. talk about a stereotype he had a platic bag rear window for a month before he got it fixed. then He ported the trunk to allow better airflow. LOL the pressure equalization in that rotted banged up car was too much for the 17 year old rear window. funny thing is it seems all the door and window seals were still good.

I'm not much for the hip hop tracks, "Drive" #5 is a hot remake...Rihanna has an amazing tone to her voice if she's doing the right vocal track, very talented....I think the album is called "Good Girl Gone Bad"....

The words on track 4 are funny, "Breakin dishe's pots and pans - aint gona stop till I see po-lice-a lights"......

i listen to mainly hip hop, but every now and then i come across a few good songs from another genre.
i do like the white stripes, some of the old linkin park is alright (which i guess is like a mix of hip hop/rock. i honestly dont know what to call it), but another favorite of mine is evanescence. the band is amazing, and she has a great voice imo. if you want to hear a good song, download "going under". sounds amazing in my truck.

Quad ESL-989 electrostatic speakers, just the SPEAKER CABLES WERE 8 grand
Levinson 900something cd player and all custom made Chord equipment from the UK. I'm not much into analog and don't even own a turntable, but this one is just stupid. The table the turntable sits on is perfectly balanced and uses a system of leadweights to dampen the resonance of the table so that the tone arm doesn't pick up any audible noise, serioulsy the table is a work of art, almost a table within a table that is surrounded by lead and sits on pinpoint steel legs. The tone arm was 15K
Easily 40-60k in his home stereo....To sit and listen to anything thru those speakers is wild, I was allowed to play Love Hurts, Beggars Day and Hair of the Dog by Nazareth....Freakin insane, good god, I've never heard such pure music......

Wow, no offense but what a waste. Probably couldnt sell it for a fraction of this at a garage sale not to mention it will all soon be obsolete.

I have a 1.4 billion dollar 8 track player with a 16 jigawatt plasma semi automatic flux division multiplier warp drive. I run 4.5 billion watts through 12 story tall speakers individually powered by high tension, high voltage helicopter accessible power lines. Of course I cant sell it for a nickle at a garage sale and it will be obsolete next week.

I used to LOVE car sterios but sadly someone decided they needed mine more than I did. Thrashed the Rover tearing it out. They actually broke into my garage to get into the truck. That's when I decided I'd keep the high end audio in the house...
here's a picture of the modest set up. 1 12" JL W7 ran by a single 600 watt JL amp. Mids and highs were factory Harmon Kardon which I was VERY impressed with to say the least...

Sorry to hear about the break in, I agree about keeping it in the house, not the vehicle
Now of days most car stereo's are almost acceptable. We leave everything stock in out new cars, thinking back, every vehicle I've had that had an after market system was broken into.

.
Another thing I didn't realize is most car alarms only go off if the car door is opened, thats why they bust a window and climb in, never opening the door. We learned the hard way when 5 cars on our street were all busted into on a single night, no alarms whent off. They were able to get laptops, purses, tools, anything of value......Jim
