Hi everyone,
Well, I'm back from a vacation to the Keys and Boynton Beach. During my vacation, I went to Home Depot in Marathon (middle Keys) and Boynton Beach. No Southdown to be had at either store. Only had quartz play sand--SacKrete I believe was the manufacturer. Anyway, just wanted to give more info about the availability of the infamous, yet frustratingly difficult to find, Southdown sand.

Nope, didn't check the garden section. I asked where the sands were kept, then went over there. Man, I wish I didn't rely totally on that customer service guy.
SD sand is great because it is like $4.50 per 50 lbs of high-quality arragonite sand for our reef tanks. You can use it to form a good deep sand bed (DSB). You need anywheres from 2-4 inches depth for a good DSB. Arragonite sand you buy in the LFS is 5 times as expensive.
