Southdown not for aquariums?

I just bought a 50 pound bag of Southdown from Home Depot. When I got home I realized that it said on the bottom " not for traction or aquarium use". Is this still the stuff people have been talking about. I bought a similar bag and used it two months ago. Now problems yet. Here is the sku # 9060420100 b/c I think someone posted it before.
Southdown
Tropical Playsand
From the caribbean
fine, sterilized, silica free
Did I make a huge mistake putting it in the tank? Need help.

They are trying to cover their own back sides. It would not be a good choice for a freshwater aquarium because it would tend to raise the Ph too high. It is ideal for saltwater.

I'm sure that their for liabilities reasons. As well as they also supply the same sand to aquarium distributors where they make a huge margin. Who would be quite upset if they labeled that sand as aquarium safe.

I wonder if HOME DEPOT can get items from other stores? If not, I will have to wait

They say its not for aqauriums because they are assuming FW tanks. In FW, I have heard the sand will percipitate calcium carbonate into the water making the pH higher and killing fish. But its perfect for SW.

I used regular playsand in my 55 gallon setup. It wasnt southdown, but i have had no problems from it, and my tanks been up for almost a year. I got this sand from Home Depot as well.

ok boys, I found 3 differant UPC numbers so I am taking a ride to HD today! If they can't special order some bags I will see what I would have to do.
I am also going to have the wife look at work since she is a buyer for Agway distrabution center for the NorthEast, from Maine to PA. She said they deal with old castle sand so lets hope so.....the only good thing is she gets it at cost since she works for them....:joy:
Next thing you know I will ba a TT unit backing up with 49 feet trailer full of it! :D:
If
I can get a lot at a good price I will post a thread and see what happens. I will help you guys all out all I can since you all help me.

Does any one have the sku #? I just called Home Depot and they said it should only be 6 digits long. Also they said any UPC code will be 12 digits long. So if anyone has the correct ones, please post.
