Southdown Sand

Looking for Southdown sand somewhere anywhere in Missouri. I have seen where people have found it at Home Depot in Indiana, New York, PA, and everywhere else except here. Close to Kansas City would be great but I travel to the southeast part of the state alot but always like having an excuse to go somewhere new.

I put 160lbs of southdown sand in my tank and toped it off with 20lbs of fiji live sand. I like the look of the fiji sand better than the southdown. I wish I went with all fiji. I know it costs more but It looks better to me. also,I rinsed the southdown really good and there's still a white cloudy look to my water even after a month. check online auction for live sand. I paid $2.00 a pound plus shipping. That might be cheaper than driving across the state. goodluck.

I went looking for this sand at my local Home Depot today. No luck. All they had was the Quikrete play sand, which is not aragonite. They saidthat they dont ever see any other brands of sand in that store, but recommended that I call the company who makes the sand, and find out where it is stocked locally. Not a bad idea, and I'll let you know how this transpires.

Southdown is a very fine sand. Having said that, though, mine was only in the water column for about 2 days. My protein skimmer sucked up the white cloud and now my sand stays put and works great.
If you are looking for a LOT of sand you can't beat Southdown.
