I'm heading out to So Cal and Disneyland at the end of April; so I decided to check out the Disneyland website. I was bummed to see that Space Mountain will be shut down for refurbishment until later this year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the park.
There's a place on the site that you can check to see which attractions are closed that day.

too bad. Went on space mountain couple summers ago. Scared the he!! outa me, but I went on again and again and again. It's funny...a camera flashed your pic while your in there....OMG, the look on my face was just ..............grose!!!
Lucky you, band trips are great, My daughters is going to DC for the Independence Day Parade....they usually go to Disney in Florida. They are bumbed...but I think they'll have a great time.

yea i was in disney land last march i was bummed that they had Space Mountain closed for the anniversery thing. But ive been to the Space Mountain in Florida and it was a blast! And aslo scary cuz u didnt now where the next turn was or where anything was.
One thing they should of done is put loops and corkscrews in there. that wold be the s#!*. But who knows maybe the one in cali will have that.
