It could definately be a Spaghetti Worm but I can almost make out the short red gills of a Hair Worm in the middle of the mound. With a clearer pic I could tell for sure but my vote is Hair Worm.

OK Bang I'll split the difference and call it a Terebellidae worm, OK?

No they are not bad, in fact they are desirable as they are good detritus eaters. A good part of a cleanup crew.

Sorry - I've taken more pictures, but can't seem to get a better one.
So whatever they are, they're good?

If it's in your rock then it's probably the Spaghetti Worm (Terebellidae) that Thomas was referencing. They are also called Mason Worms because of the debri they leave behind as they drill through your rocks.
Both worms are highly desireable IMO.

Starfish are notorious for eating the infuana, pods and critters that inhabit the sand bed I would not get a starfish, that is if you ment a sand sifting star.
That little debris will not hurt anything if it is just from liverock.

I just added a sand sifter to my tank. Will they really wipe out the pods and other critters? Should I get him out? I have a ref. where they were flourishing lately but just added the sand sifter to the main tank.
