Special Tool For Loc-line?

Anyone know if those special pliars are necessary for assembling loc-line fittings? I've no experience with the product, and I'd rather not buy the tool if I don't have to.

I've never bought the pliers (although I'm always more than willing ot aquire new tools).
The 1/2" requires a good hard press to snap it together. The 3/4" is VERY tough, but it can be done. I've done both without the pliers, but if you are doing more than 3 or 4 total snapups with 3/4, you might consider the pliers.

That was fast! I'm not averse to buying tools either if I know I'll get to use them more than a time or two... but I guess I've got about eight or so snaps to do so I guess you answered my question. I think I'll save myself some frustration. Thanks for the info Quint.

Tankyou, I agree with SCSInet, the pliers are not necessary but they are truly helpful. I own a machine shop and I have Locline products on every machine in the building. I buy a tool for each work station. It makes life SOOOOO much easier! But if need be you can get a real good grip on each segment, then put your fists between your knees and squeeze like mad, and they will go together. To disassemble, just bend the segment over until it snaps off. But, this disassembly method will shorten the lifespan of the segments. jc85

Run the plastic parts under warm/hot water to "soften" them...Then they snap on easy and cool and shrink tight...

u can dip the male in cold water to shrink it and the female in hot water to expand it and make it more flexible

They do make special pliers for the loc line, but like mentioned earlier you can do it with your hands.....it's a little hard or stiff, but once you get the hang of taking it apart and back together it's a snap

Thanks everyone, ordered my loc-line today (sans pliars), gonna tough it out! Besides reduced total snappage to 6 (two 3/4" and four 1/2") snaps.
