This morning I went in to feed my fish and noticed stringy stuff floating all over that looked very much like cob webs. Any ideas what this could be??

Thanks,

I have worms that spit quite a bit of spider web like webbing when the water is disturbed too much. has been harmless and only occurs during aggressive water agitation (water changes, trying to catch a fish ect). I know mine comes from worms because they shoot it right out the feather duster like sticks they form on the rocks.

yours is probably a sponge. (a picture would help) but if its a sponge they are harmless filter feeders.

hmmm...what do the vermetid snails look like? The web stuff is throughout the tank and just sort of floats in strings.

They have hard tubes about 1/8"-1/4" in diameter and can grow several inches high.
