SPINACH as food supplement

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone uses spinach as a supplement for their fish. I was doing some research on why my yellow tang had a sunken stomach and found that they need to graze on alge all day. I know somepeople use alge sheets, and others use romaine lettuce. I decided to try spinach since its "better" for ppl why not fish?
The long/short of it is my yellows sunken stomach got filled in within 3 days of using the spinach. Not only do the tangs eat it, but my picasso seems to really like it too. To my surprise, a couple of the yellow tail damsels I used to cycle the tank pick - it also.

I just checked the bag, regular old spinach. But, the package claims that spinach is a super food. Super fish food, but of course IMO. :happyfish

my yellow tang loves broccoli and spinach too! just make sure you freeze the spinach or broccoli before feeding it helps break down the celluose(sp?) making it a little bit sorter for easy munchin

LOL, good one.
What kind of spinach is it? Is it just the kind you buy in the produce section at a grocery store?

The concern is pesticides being used on the spinach-then being introduced to your fish. Organic is better-from your own garden is best. Use a fruit or vegetable wash to clean it well if you are not sure it is pesticide free.

I used to microwave slices of z-squash for a few seconds. Cooking it slightly makes it sink, and the fish tend to eat it more quickly. I never thought about freezing it though...

I was just washing it and then use the mag float to hold it. A whole leaf can go in a few hours. Ill try the freezing, even though they do a good job with it being raw. :happyfish
