Spiney Boxfish Emergency

hey everyone...have a quick question here.....one of my co-workers at the lfs just got hit by a spiny boxfish while cleaning a tank at work....the spine peirced his skin and drew blood....he is now feeling very weird and sick.....we ran his hand under some hot water to try to break up the venom (if any)....I know spiny boxfish exude a toxin if they die in a tank but are they also venoumous if you get pricked by their spines???????? we are on the phone with poision control right now to try and find more info!

ok well we called poision control, they had no clue, and said to go to the er. we went to the er where they took blood samples and monitored all his vital signs and released him after 3 hours....they couldnt find anythign about if their spines punctured skin, but if you eat them they can be deathly toxic. talk about a crazy n ight!
