geeze I never realised everyone here uses a penn. I was expecting everyone to say Shimano or Abu Garcia...
I keep a Shimano behind the seat of my truck with a very basic tackle box for those times you wish you had a pole with you.

we use penn 965's for baitg king salmon in fast current rivers here. used to have abu's but the penns drag is so far superior it's not even close. twice the price, 10 times the reel.
for spinning trout I actually was a huge shimano fan, had two of the stradics, but have since found that the Pfluger reels are half the price and just as sweet feeling. i don't know if they have a slatwater version, but I'd be inclined to check them out if you're on a budget. they may not make a bigger reel though, I dunno.
