Welcome to SWF.
I know it's hard but, try and slow down a little. Give tank time to mature. I would also take back the starfish while it still looks good and you can get some money or credit for it. If not then, when it passes you'll be out the cash. Sorry, Very delicate creatures. Please do lots of research and decide what you want before you buy, then research it.
Enjoy your tank.
This is a great hobby, but very expensive.

Well. your tank is new. new tanks go through algae blooms. your tank doesn't run as skimmer and you have hardly any live rock. Your filtration is not the best. Also, you may be running your lights for too long so if your algae is real bad reduce your photoperiod. You do not have very intense light demanding corals either, 6-8 hours would be fine.
Just to echo what others have said, I'd definitely take the poor start back to your LFS before it dies. I'd also take back your flame scallop as they are very difficult to successfully keep alive, and like the starfish, your tank is way to new for one.

i actually am getting kinda mad that you havent taken the starfish back..and the upkeep isnt as hard if you get more LR cuz it takes up space and it helps filter and you might wanna add another powerhead...again take the starfish back it will die its just a matter of time..
