my tank is almost a year and 1 1/2 old.
and recently I have been getting a huge amount of sponge growth
some of the sponges look very strange, as it looks like cobb webs and it is growing all over my live rock and on the skeleton of my frog spawn.
I also have the more traditional kind of sponges that a round and growing on my live rock
first, what is causing this sponge growth?
and second, is the cobb webbs thingies, sponges?

Sponges are good they clean the water of excess organics which you must have in quantity if your lucky enough to have sponges. Sponges also take a long time to show
up in an aquarium which is why you're seeing them now. h*
