sponge infestion!!!!!

I have sponges growing all over the place. Is there something i can do to stop this or is this normal? What is the cause of it?

sponges wont hurt anything so you dont have to worry but if you dont like the look just pull them out

I have sponge everywhere in my tank. Watch them around zoos. They took over and killed a nice size colony of zoos in my tank. Other than that if you don't like them just rip them out and put them up for sale.

newer tanks and excess nutrients can cause white sponge growth in my experience.

My tank has been running for 5 months......Where does the excess nutrients come from or is that part of a newer tank?

usually overfeeding even if you think you aren't, and not using ro water or real cheap salt mixes but sometimes it just grows even if everything is good . if you have any nuisance sponge it won't hurt anything if kept in check but some people thinks it's a eye sore, I myself have pink, yellow, white and green sponge in my reef I like it, most of it came in on live rock I purchased, some of it just came on itself when I first set-up many many many years ago
