sponge question

So how do you tell if your sponge is doing well or if its dead. My friend gave me a orange sponge that looks like a ball. Should I be feeding it something in particular or will the Micro-vert i put in be enouph.

I think it turns white if it's dead. I feed mine phyto. They like low light and high current.

your going to want to get your spong in a low light , very low flow area , because they are suspension feeders

They like moderate to high flow Because they are filter feeders and need as much food as possible to go past them. I feed mine oyster eggs and it has been doing good so far. These can definatly be a challenging species to keep long term.
