sponges

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any sponges ( or if most people have them in their tanks?)that they kept in there tank, i was interested in them but hadnt seen any posts on them so i was just curious what was involved in keeping them,

most people will get some type of sponge on their lr, and they will survive and grow(slowly). as for the bigger sponges, like the orange tree sponge or the orange ball sponge, they primarily consume(heavily) DOC's, silica, phytoplankton, etc.
which is why not too many people like to keep them, because of the frequent feedings.

I have a red ball sponge and here is the only thing I do for it. I blow it off with a turkey bastor a couple times a day. You have to keep it free of algae. I've had it a few months and it seems to be doing fine. I don't know about frequent feedings. I add food every four days.

exactly, a misconception: feeding of phytoplankton..some people think thats the only thing they consume.
