Spot banded butterfly fish scratching side

Hello everyone this is my first topic so ill jump right in, I just brought home a spot banded butterfly fish from a very reputable fish store and he is gently rubbing up against things in the tank decorations and even a hermit crab that has a pointy shell. it looks as if he might have a spot on his side where he is more vibrant because his slime coat is gone. Its hard to say because of his elaborate patterns. Not a big spot I was contemplating putting antibiotics in just in case that might help but don't know if that could in any way hurt my tank.

You should not medicate your main tank. You are new to the hobby?

It could be ich , try a fresh water dip or hyposalinity

If its ich there will be more than a spot. Dont do anything, just monitor and see if it gets worse

Remember when it has a white spot it means that the ich is pregnant but he may have lots already

Agreed. But just bc a fish scratches doesnt mean its ich. It could be sand or a bubble. One spot ich does not make
