Ohh yes it is and its bad. You need to QT all your fish now. Go to the Fish Disease & treatment form and look at Beth's thread how to do Hypo.

Only the fish and the eel need to be moved, all inverts can not get ick. Do you have a quarantine tank set up? If not the thread also tell you how to set one up, try to use some filter media from your main tank.

We have a 55 gallon with crushed corral THATS been up with live rock. Since this tank is already established I need to know what to do to lower the salinity without freaking them out. Do I need to just take some of that water out and just add straight RO water? I still can't find her thread I'm so sorry

are you saying the display tank is 55 gallons? or you have a 55 gallon hospital tank?not a good idea to do hypo with anything but a hang on filter. (bare tank) you can get some coffee cups or 4 inch pvc in there for the fish to hide,it really sucks when a new guy wants a salt tank and adds a fish with ich.which over almost 30 years i have been doing this almost 50+ % of fish have is when we get them. you my friend are in some trouble.if you can go get a 10 gallon tank .put the inverts in it with a good powerhead. .you need to empty the dt .get another hang on filter.buy some amquil for ammonia.you are in a tough spot to save these guys. i can go on for two more pages about a qt for new fish ,the life cycle of ich and salinity.but right now if you want to save these guys you need a 2nd tank. sorry

another thing ,if you lower salinity you will have die off on the rock and in the crushed coral.c ausing an ammonia spike. especially puffers are sensitive to this and it will kill him.please if you plan to keep in this sport get a 10 or 20 gallon qt with a hob filter ready for new fish .i have lost probably 100 fish over the years .not all my fault .sometimes they just arent right when i get them but yea, i have messed up plenty. i will never add a fish without qt'ing them for 2 months

Do not make your main tank a hospital tank. Buy a cheap tank off Craigslist a hang on back cheap filter. Use water from your main tank in the hospital tank. Eel and dog face should go in the hospital tank for about eight weeks. Ich will die off in main tank while you treat in the hospital tank
