Spotted Mandarin Dragonet vs Bicolor Blenny

Just wondering if anyone knew anything about how a Mandarin will act towards a blenny? We already have the Mandarin in the tank and he is well established. Hubby would really like to add a blenny to the tank but we heard that there may be a conflict between the two of them. Is there any truth to this?

I can't speak for all but I had a lawnmower blenny, a mandarin, and a green spotted mandarin together. They got along well, never bothered eachother.

I think it will be fine. Even my most aggressive fish stays away from my mandrin. I think i read that mandrins are poisonest if eaten. And mandrin don't seem to notice other fish, except other mandrins, so i think you would be ok. mine just ignore each other.

yeah mandarins have a slimmy coat over there bodys. i picked one up out of the water and then put it back in and my hands were coverd in this slimmy crap

I couldn't catch our mandarin with my bare hands even if I tried.

We have to tear the tank apart to catch him, he is a good hider!

40ga and 20lbs of LR
I think. Tank has been established for over a year but moved recently. And my Mandarin loves his pods which he has but he will also snack out on the live brine we drop in, if he can get to them before the Goby's and Clowns do.

do NOT buy the fish, they neeed about triple that amount of rock to survive usually. oh i have been reading this wrong, that you already have the mandarin, well in your case i think you got lucky that he eats food, maybe switch over to mysis where he can get nutrition out of it. consider more rock tho.

I would have to ask hubby the exact amount of LR in the tank. but he seems to be happy in there. I see him eating his pods and brine all of the time. But I will check into the mysis. Thank you!

OK Hubby says we have 35-37 lbs of LR in the tank. But the mandarin has been in there for 2 months and is doing fine. I just hope he can get enough pods. Mysis may be our next step to make sure he is getting what he needs! Plus more LR may help! Thanx!
