Well, got the spraybar done today. Got a friend cutting me a piece of black acrylic so I can get it mounted on the acrylic tank. I'll add pics of it installed when I get there.:D

P.S. Sorry about the quality of the pic. Low light is a downside of a VCR/Digital still combo.

Salt creep will probably eat through the paint in no time, but not sure if it will harm the fish/corals. You could get black PVC from Lowe's or H.D.

Hasn't hurt my painted background, black, either of the three times this tank has been saltwater over the past 10 years. It was done with flat black spray paint also.
Also, the acrylic tank with its sealed top has far less salt creep than glass tanks. Just have to worry about the holes cut into the top for heater, wiring, feeding, etc., but the creep is cut way down. Hope, youre wrong, but we'll see.

There is only one kind of reef/fish safe paint 2 part epoxy NSF-61 certified for potable water, any other paint that comes in contact with the saltwater will leach very bad chemicals into the water and very quickly kill any and probably all inhabitants of the tank. I'm not sure how you're planning on mounting your return but please make sure the paint is not immersed or placed in such a way as to allow any evaporation condensation to drip back into the tank.
The black pvc pipe sold in the home improvement stores is not certified safe for potable water either, it's intended for use as waste lines only. You can find black "reef safe" flexible pvc pipe from several online sources if you must have black and can't afford the *ridiculous* price of the 2-part epoxy paint.
Just my research over the last year so I could be badly mistaken, Lord knows it wouldn't be the first time. I'm sure one of the sharks will jump in to correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck and, by the way, the bar does look very professionally done!
Later,
Paul

Thanks Paul.
Spraybar will be sealed to a piece of acrylic that will be sealed to the tank. The only part that will come in contact in any way with the water is the flexible black tubing. No paint. I plan on this entire unit being sealed so no salt creep will get past it at all. I'll post pics when its done.

Well, got the spraybar mounted. Had a piece of acrylic cut and drilled so the spraybar returns slid through, siliconed it, and screwed and siliconed the unit to the tank. Shouldn't be any salt creep at all. Works great so far.
