spraypainting tank

I bought a used tank and I am painting the old trim with spraypaint. About halfway through, I began considering whether or not the paint is toxic to fish (obviously I am painting an empty tank!!). I have spraypainted the top "lip" of the tank. Does anyone know if the paint will be a problem later on when water and fish are present?
Any thoughts?

I would say that it depends on the paint, but I'm not really a paint expert. There must be some paints that are non toxic, as there are decorations that the stores sell to place into a tank that are painted.

spray painting your tank should be ok. the water won't be touching the trim will it? if it will, then i'd be cautious, but if no contact will happen, then it should be ok.

The water may touch it at times, but it won't be in constant contact. The paint is only on the lip that the glass top fits on.
I went to the website and it says once the paint is dry, it is nontoxic. I hope it is okay.
