Spreading coralline algae?

Hi and help!
Is it normal for the pink coralline algae to spread everywhere in the tank? Even over the glass front and sides and equipment?
I'm not sure why, but my coralline is going crazy. Is this good or bad? Is there anything that could control it? I have very little of any other kind of algae in a 2 month old tank. Thanks!

Be glad you have it. Better than having any of the pest algaes taking over the tank. I had it growing on my filter intake and powerheads in an old tank i had setup.

The corraline is good. I keep mine off the front of the glass for obvious reasons. The corraline in my tank has even gone so far as to form over each other creating plates of algae. Looks great.

Thanks for the replies!
I have no idea what I did or didn't do to have this happen - it's just been like that since I started the tank. I have no other algae, though, which worries me a little since some of the inverts eat algae - I've been adding the Nori strips and the Hikari tablets for them ....
Oh well - learn as you go! :)

With me one day it just took off all over. I have purple on my powerheads, green all over my glass, and pink all in the sand. I aksed my LFS and they said I was doing something right. Now if all the spots on my LR can turn purple, I still have some bare spots.

I felt the same way anubix. Where's my coraline? I was getting worried in the beginng because nothing was growing, only bleaching and dying. I went out and bought a reef supplement kit (Ca, I, and Sr) and have been adding them in regularly, especially the calcium (everyday). I then bought a 130 watt PC. My coraline began to grow and I was getting excited. Then one day it just exploded overnight. Literally I woke up one morning and my tank was covered. Now it's getting outta hand. From one extreme to another.

My tank has been setup for three months by the way. It still hasnt gotten to where I want it to be. My rocks need a little more color. A good way to spread the coraline is to turn off all waterflow and use a bristle brush and scrub the coraline. This will release spores.

This is a stupid question, but if I only scrub certain colors in the tank (yellow, pink) will just those spores in that color spread?

I'm not sure if this is right but ... someone told me that my Emeralds scraping the coralline off the LR would help spread it. I know the crabs are always picking at the rocks - maybe they spread the spores? I only have pink and dark pink going everywhere.
Also getting some white patches forming? Seems like white flakes over some of the LR and the shells of the hermits, also Spirorib worms ...?

My coralline is starting to spread also. I do have emerald crab that pick at the live rock all day.....not sure if they help spread the coralline, but they sure keep my live rock free of other algeas.

I had the same problem until about a month ago. I started using B-Ionic everyother day and Essential Elements once a week, and some Coral Vite and depending on the size of tank a drop or two of iodine. After that it took off like the a brush fire. I had rocks in there that I thought would never have it on there also all of my hermit and snails are purple and like he said my sand is turning pink.
