sps coral question?

i thinking of getting a monti to start . how fast can they grow . i have a very mature tank with 400 watts mh?with 20 k what else are easy to grow( sps)

good calcium and alkalinity levels are important too, but yes montis are pretty quick growers. capricornis are plate shaped, and digitata are more branch shaped. birdsnests and slimers are also pretty fast growers too.

They do grow fairly fast but you might want to consider a different K bulb, 20K looks nice with all the blue but a 13K or more white type light will increase it's growth rate.

i will switch to 14k pretty soon after my xenia start spreading like weeds to lower my nitrate to zero and start selling most of my softy to switch to sps...
