SPS- PC vs MH

The following picture is of two pieces of the same coral. I fragged it and put a piece under 260w of PC in a 55g tank. The one under the PC's has been there for less than two months...

I thought it would be a little easier to understand... lol. The one on the left is under MH, the one on the right is under PC.

Point is how much better the coral in doing under MH then PC. I have also heard montis can do well under PC so I decided to give it a try. From the looks of things I can not see how I would call this one successful. And of course both tanks are not equal... they are close. If it doesn't get looking better here pretty quick it's going back under the MH.

lol, I know. I wanted to see for myself if I could keep sps under PC but by the looks of things I don't want to... even if I could. I guess I should have opened with a good explanation but I figure the point was a given.

I'm so disappointed with my PCs. I should have bit the MH bullet when we spent the grand to set up the tank . . .

I really don't mind my PC. I think VHOs look better but for a softies/ LPS tank they work ok. I'm a big believer (even more so now) in MH's for sps corals...

Don't feel bad, most of us did the samething as you. I still have my 4x55 watt setup.

Being as I don't have much experience with sps... under any kind of lighting, do you really think this would be very useful in proving anything when the picture on the right, the sps is almost starting to be covered with hair algae? I am not doubting that sps can't be kept under anything less than halide, I just don't think this is a fair example when i know many people around me who do have nice sps tanks under pc.
edit- I don't know much about sps but they do say the have the hardy ones, like the montiporos.

I can top that... I bought a 55 gal 3 months ago, and have already upgraded to a 120 w/MH's (after I bought VHO's 2 months ago)!!!

I hate those, wires and end caps...its just one big mess. Even PC's are a pain....
