sps/ricordias living in harmony...so far

I just wonder if I am making a mistake later on down the road. So far these ricordias and sps are doing fine together, but I keep hearing how mushroom toxins can kill sps. I can set-up another nano for the sps if needed.

And is there a name for these frags I just got? Are these what are called tort?

HOLY COW or you could give me some of your rics

That's a beautifully stocked nano. I've got no idea about the toxins, but nice tank.

Thanks. There look to be more than there really are. Small 14gl and that's why I am wondering about them together. I do have a 15gl sump/fuge holding about 10gls underneath and a canister filter (2gl) that I am running a carbon/phosphate pad in + purigen.

Not really. The ricordias can move.

I take the coral, dry the base, apply some superglue gel, quickly put it into the tank and where I want it, smear the glue from the corals base onto the rock and work it untill it starts to stick, then hold it for 5-30 seconds, depending on the weight of the coral, location and the brand of superglue gel. Best I have found so far is Duro Quick Gel in Walmart paint section.

Thanks. Started the tank in Aug 06 after a 2 month cycle. It was a 20cube and moved everything into a 14gl last April, then back to the 20 cube and reciently back to the 14gl. The 20 cube started leaking so I am thinking about moving into a 65gl corner tank I have sitting around. But still haven't decided. Might just get another 20 cube and do a ricordia and an sps nano.

I'd be very careful where you place your SPS and Rics. I'd have little worry about the SPS stinging the rics. What would worry me is the rics stinging/killing your sps. I had a very nice acro frag fall over on a yuma ric and when I removed the frag the part that was touching the yuma had all of it's flesh removed...not sure how long it was on it but it stung the hell out of the acro.

Very nice tank.
I never knew rics would kill a sps.
I guess I will move them to the other side of the tank away from my sps.

I would agree. The rics are not near the sps, I was mainly concerned with them int he same tank not really touching. SO far there doesn't seem to be any troubles, but maight be something I am not aware of that I don't want creeping up. The sps are on one side and higher than the rics.

its usually leathers that exude chemicals that are damaging to SPS I wouldnt worry about rics poisoning them just stinging.
some leathers are reputed to dump terpines into the water wich can inhibit the growth or kill sensitive SPS. carbon is a great way to negate that effect along with active skimming.
