this tank belongs to the owner of my LFS
The entire bottom is LR rubble I was thinking of doing the same

having a rubble base like that seems to me like a recipe for disaster . . . thats a LOT of big spaces for detritus build up due to poor circulation. Bare bottom or starboard would be much better IMO, not to mention cheaper.

thinking the same thing.
Wondering if you plumbed your returns to your CL to come out underneath the rock to push the detritus off the floor...

I can see what you mean about build up due to poor circulation
and for some tanks that would be a problem, but that is just not the case with this tank. he has 3 sea swirl 90 degree rotating returns, and two regular returns and close to 10,000gph turnover

It doesnt matter how much flow he has . . . its not going to be able to get into all of the relatively large holes created by the rock rubble, especially those deep within the structure. I promise that when he takes down that tank, there will be large detritus piles on the bottom. Its basically like a crushed coral bottom but on a much larger scale.
